| For the last month, I've had a problem with a Windows update not working. Specifically KB2419640. I have a bit of a weird setup in that I ran out of space on one HDD and moved my Program Files (x86) directory to a new HDD and made a hardlink to it from the old location. I've been getting error code 80070011 on this update. It turns out that there are two registry settings that you need to edit to move your Program Files (x86). HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion you need to edit both CommonFilesDir (x86) and ProgramFilesDir (x86). You need to change the drive letter in both of those. I had only changed the latter, which made all other updates work properly. Live and learn, I guess.
Oh, and happy Valentine's Day. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I hate it when I start something and forget why I actually did it. For anyone using 64-bit Ubuntu, Adobe Acrobat Reader is kind of a pain in the ass. It used to be in medibuntu, but it has since moved to the Canonical partner repository. You should just be able to enable that in System -> Administration -> Software Sources, under the Other Software tab, then install the acroread package. I also got medibuntu for the acroread-fonts package. I don't know if it's required, but it shouldn't hurt. The reason to do all of this? I don't know how else to read multi-page TIFF files.
Unrelatedly, I received new drum heads today. I ordered them at the same time from the same company. They arrived today in 4 separate boxes. 2 of them were individually boxed inside their respective shipping boxes. So wasteful. | comments: Leave a comment |
| It's been a trying year. Started off with a bang when I got into an accident because I was drunk in February. That started a whole chain of events that have been mixed positive and negative. In April I got robbed at gun-point. Scrap prices started to recover a little bit around then. Neither of my big tragedies has totally been resolved yet. I'm still on probation from the DUI, and the dust is still settling from the financial stuff. As for the robbery, I've been to 2 preliminary hearings, and 2 that were continued. It's very stressful.
Because of the DUI, I stopped drinking. And because of that I lost a ton of weight. And by a ton of weight I mean about 1% of a ton of weight. Or 25 pounds. I started playing the drums. Just about right before I got robbed. I'm still pretty awful but WAAAAAY better. Oh, and I traded my alcohol addiction for a World of Warcraft and coffee addiction. I think I'm probably slightly better off. The coffee one was already in the works. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | This site is so different from the last time I was here. I always tell myself I'll keep up with a journal, I never do. I actually had a work-related one for a little bit, but I decided I didn't like the idea. To sum up the year: chaotic work with way too many customers, fired some people, hired some other ones, business died with the economy, I got stressed. started off the year gaining weight, lossed some, gained more, joined the gym, lost some, stopped going, stayed about even. I fixed up my house some, it should be nice by the end of this year. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Where to start? The form class that I reported as 60% done in September 2005 is now 95% done. Done enough to use in PHP-Calendar. In fact things are looking really good now. Maybe this year I'll actually do a release.
Since I haven't said it before, and it's almost tax time and I still haven't received forms, stay away from www.eworldwire.com and www.prfree.com. They are run but the same people in a small office in NJ. If they tell you that they have multiple offices, they're lying. When I worked there, most of the distribution we did was false. We just sent press releases to some email addresses, a good portion of which were invalid. Someone before I started there forgot to forward the email address that the releases were coming from to an account that was being checked. So as a result, we didn't see any bounces until my last couple of months there. I was told outright to lie to a client who came in to see our office. We put on a very sad show where I kept getting called from the other room. A TV which was intended to be returned shortly was bought just to show our shabby videos. | comments: Leave a comment |

| | Wow, it's been over a year since I posted here. Brief synopsis. I left Baltimore in November, went to New Jersey a week later. Lived and worked with some assholes who totally fucked me over. I did learn some things there, so I guess it works out. I moved back to PA in March, I think. Did nothing for a while. Started working for my Dad in May, I think. Did a stint with the Post Office for a couple months from July to mid-September. Now I'm working for my dad again. Pretty much the best job I've had. Anyway, it's off to work for me now. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

Sure... I guess. And pickles taste yummy when you marinate them in me!
Thinking about quiting my job because my boss is totally overbearing. The old boss was in for a few days. Work was awesome. I just don't think it's worth my effort to deal with the new boss. He's definitely lost any respect that he might've had. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| I do such a good job of censoring myself here. I don't even do it consciously. There are often times when I worry that I might've posted something that I don't want someone in particularly to read. I usually get here just to see that I hadn't mentioned it despite it being in the front of my mind.
Making progress on PHP calendar. The form class is probably 60% done. Once that is finished, there's just the work of setting up the new event submit, porting some remaining stuff to the new class system, and finishing up working out the permission system. I'm pretty sure 0.11 is just going to lay the framework for a bunch of new features, not really implement too many of those features. When I'm done with most of the important stuff on my TODO list, I'll release php-caledar as 1.0 and call it stable. I've been working on it for over 3 and a half years... Wow.
PS. I have fleas. And they're fucking annoying. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| back into old habbits. today was a lazy day. had some drinks, got really tired and lazy. I think I'm going to stop drinking during the day for a while anyway. 1 beer left. I'm going to try to leave it for a week. I'll probably feel worn out form work tomorrow and drink it though. I accomplished far less today than I had intended. Pluses: network cables are working and run, speakers are working, did some work on php-calendar, and worked on Ria's site. minuses: no food, no hot water knob, didn't talk to bob.
I had a different song up there, but then this one came on and I thought it was way too fitting. | comments: Leave a comment |
